After defeating our neighbours Rahoon Newcastle in the 1st Round match on Friday evening, our u14s travelled to Portumna today to play the remaining group games. Despite conceding a last minute goal to Portumna to lose the opening game by 2 points, we rallied back well to defeat Abbeyknockmoy and Tuam in our remaining games. This left us awaiting the result of the final group match between Portumna and Abbeyknockmoy, with an Abbeyknockmoy victory required for us to advance to the Final tomorrow. Unfortunately it was not to be, with Portumna beating Abbeyknockmoy, and they go on to face Annaghdown in the Final.

This weekend is the Galway Hurling Feile Weekend, with all clubs taking part in matches on Friday and Saturday, and the Finals taking place on Sunday in Kenny Park, Athenry.

Bearna/na Forbacha u14 hurlers will compete in the Toddie Byrne Shield Competition, and have been grouped with Rahoon-Newcastle, Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, and Portumna (Host Club). The top team in the group will qualify for the Final, with the winner qualifying for the National Feile Competition in Ulster.

The following new Playing Rules for Hurling will come into effect this Saturday, April 11th

Bearna/Na Forbacha's adult team took on Salthill/Knocknacarra in the Junior 1 Championship at the weekend, but lost narrowly by a scoreline of 0-15 to 2-11. Bearna/Na Forbacha will have the opportunity of reversing this result shortly, as the same teams meet again next Wednesday, April 15th, 7pm at Furbo pitch in the Junior Hurling League.

The Cois Fharraige U16's also unfortunately lost their game at the weekend against Mullagh. The Bearna/Na Forbacha Minor team face Mountbellew/Moylough on Saturday 11th at 6pm at Furbo pitch in the Minor B Championship.

In Camogie news, Bearna/Na-Forbacha have this year added a Minor team for the first time - check the Camogie link for contact details.

The Bearna/Na Forbacha Junior A team beat Liam Mellows 4-7 to 0-13 in Junior League last Sunday morning. They also play their second match of the Junior 1 Championship this Sunday, April 5th against Salthill at 11am in The Prairie.

Cois Fharraige u16s lost to Moycullen at the weekend by a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-9. However they have an opportunity to recover lost ground in a game against Mullagh on Saturday at 12.30pm in Furbo.

Our Junior team began their Junior 1 campaign with a 1-15 to 1-15 draw against local rivals An Spideal last Saturday, March 21st, in Furbo.

The U16 Cois Fharraige team had a good win in Spiddal on Saturday where they played Abbeyknockmoy. Leading 2-6 to 0-3 at half time with goals from Aodh Bohan and Gearóid Ó Conghaile, Cois Fharraige ran out winners by 2-10 to 2-6.

The Junior 1 Championship starts Saturday 21st with Bearna/na Forbacha playing local rivals Spiddal in Furbo pitch at 1pm.  Meanwhile the U14s play Athenry at 4pm in Spiddal the same afternoon.
